Joe Kudritz is a co-founder and principal of AK Hydro.  Joe has a diverse experience background and has practiced in the dam safety engineering practice for the majority of his 18 year professional career and has served as the design lead for more than 20 dam projects throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Joe also has experience evaluating and designing dam breaches, stream armoring, and decommissioning strategies to remove dams from regulatory jurisdiction. In addition to his dam safety experience, Joe has served as both Project Manager and Design Lead for numerous municipal stormwater, drinking water, and water resource infrastructure projects, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of watershed hydrology and civil infrastructure. Joe received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Genevea College, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Idaho.

Joe is passionate about dam safety engineering and has been active in Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) since 2013. Joe has authored or co-authored and has presented and authored seven technical proceedings at National and Regional Conferences. In addition, Joe was one of the lead authors of an instructional webinar for waterstop selection and installation in hydraulic structures. Joe has also co-authored an article of the complete reconstruction of the lower lake at Mt. Gilead State Park (owned by ODNR) in the 2017 Another Dam Newsletter published by Ohio Dam Safety Organization.
